123signup.com for Event Registrations
Comments from former student Gail Oss
I was using SPORG, but Active Networks purchased them and new account setup pricing is ridiculous. Needed something fast, low pricing, no contracts, easy setup, > etc. and after quickly "googling" terms, decided to give 123signup.com a try.
Benefits - no contracts, pay for % of signups only, only a few minutes to enter a new course (we do 5-6 per year with various 6-10 tier pricing structures) OR any credit card collections (I have a method for people to pay for newsletter advertising, or website classified ad payment, etc); the various "customizable" reports available to me are tremendous; help desk - I've used only twice for minor questions, but they were extremely prompt and courteous.
Cons: All my cons can be someone elses "pros": I don't use their database, so I copy/paste into my own database; pricing is averaging 3.7-4%, which includes credit card fees and 123signup fees per signup, which is a few tenths above what we would pay if we had our own setup, but I don't have to worry about the programming, security, e-commerce account, etc; they pay by check once a month, and retain a small rolling percentage for future expenses, although it is still in our account - pros and cons to this (money is not deposited immediately into account as with an ecommerce account or as with sporg, BUT accounting is actually much easier this way as the online account is set up in the books as a separate bank account).
I've referred another group to them, and the director is satisfied. They do not have a referral program, but if you decide to use them, feel free to > pass along our name (MAPTA). Maybe they'll send me a loaf of bread in appreciation or something!
