These are are few of the sites that were either built by my students; have been build for my students; or that I have built for clients. It is my hope that you will see that "ordinary" people can learn to build web sites if they have the time and the "wanna."

Agriculture Flying AJ Ranch Arlin Fratzke has fulfilled a high school dream of owning an Angus ranch. Arlin and Jenifer are great folks to work with! This site was built by Nora. Bulls for sale are shown seasonally. The bulls page is created dynamically with a database and backend system. Art and Gifts Pimentel Guitars Pimentel Guitars are custom, hand-built guitars with unique internal bracing and inlay artistry, made by the Pimentel family of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Many of you have seen me use this site as a case study in the Web Marketing and Design course. Now watch their new site in process. Old site Tour de Faux - Faux Finishing Cookie Hanson is an artist in Faux Finishing. Visit this site to see samples of some of the patterns Cookie does and examples of work she has completed. This site is a rebuild of a basic concept that had a poor linking structure and no text. The site is now growing to include database programming. Studio 12 Art with Carol Hoffnagle and Peter Keefer Carol has created floral prints and Peter creates artwork with photos of Montana barns combined with his own painting, which are used in greeting and note cards. The current site is a major revision of the original. Peter and Carol have decided to have an upgrade to their site that includes all their artwork from 1970 on. Watch for new galleries! The Meandering MOOSE Cindy Slagel has two quilting retreats coming up in the Missoula area. Cindy did the prep work on this site, and we worked together for an afternoon to put this site together. A Street Photography Mary Anne Stimpfling is an incredible photographer that took my Web Marketing and Design and Web Development 1 courses. She started this excellently clean web site, and we worked together to spruce it up with some Dreamweaver JavaScript. Whooping Crones Gallery Yes, that's Crones. To get the joke, ask Judy Hartz one of the owners! Judy took the Web Development series at Dickinson Lifelong Learning Center to learn how to do a web site to promote her Shibori dyed silks. Her new gallery promotes her silks, but also features many local artists and artisans. The Whooping Crones logo was done by Ken Lockwood of Missoula. Kathy Eyster Photography Kathy teaches photography at Dickinson Lifelong Learning Center and at the Rocky Mountain School of Photography in Missoula, Montana. Cowboy Collectibles The owner of this company attended my first series of Web for Business workshops. She's a great example of someone who put the time and effort into planning and "did it right." Santa Carver by Cyndi Joslyn Cyndi considers Missoula Santa's southern workshop for the production of hand-crafted folk art. Peggy Woods Peggy is a great watercolor artist. Sea kayaking is a special topic for her, as she is an avid kayaker. Peggy created the design for this site in the Web Development course at Dickinson Lifelong Learning Center. Debra Klecan Photography Books Churches Clark Fork City Church 2007 - This site was built by Brian Lombardi. Beginning under the name of Missoula Community Chapel, the name was later changed to Clark Fork Christian Center in 1987. During the 25th Anniversary celebration of the church in 2002, we once again felt a name change was appropriate to reflect the character of the church. "Clark Fork City Church" was chosen for two reasons, the first being that many people did not associate the words "Christian Center" with a local church. Courses and Education Hellgate High School Cross Country Track Thomas Everett took my web development courses while still in high school. This was his senior project. Best of luck in college, Thomas! LawBoost Online Legal Writing Course While in Missoula, Michael Santana taught students how to write at the University of Montana Law School. His online legal writing course is excellent for both pre-law students and anyone who needs to be able to write persuasively. This site has been rebuilt in the last four months. The basic visual design was done by an excellent graphic artist. Lessons from Lois This site belongs to one of my students and was built by another one of my students! Lois McElravy took Web Marketing and Design and Web Development with Dreamweaver. She is a dynamic personality with a great story of overcoming the effects of a disability and excelling through perserverance. Lois made the decision that her time would be better spent developing her speaking tours than building her own web site. So, she teamed up with Donna Campbell, a student who works on continual improvement of her web development skills. Donna built the Montana Chef's Association web site, listed in the Foods section above. Equipment Mini Might Patrol A fanciful name for a practical piece of equipment. Lonnie Marquardt's invention turns your skid steer into a grater. Equipment Resources also fabricates other projects, such as the Roll On Containers and Slash Bins featured in Smallwoodnews. Deidre Marquardt took my web classes; so she could update her web site, built by a contractor.

News and Media Smallwood News A web site I created and maintained as an employee of the Montana Community Development Center. The site features timber and forestry news gathered from many web sources and member submissions. Slideshows feature various small diamter timber and woody biomass projects. TimberBuySell.com A Business Plan for this site was in place when I started at MCDC. The next step when I started at MCDC was to figure out the best way to implement the project. The site is very dynamic - meaning programming - meaning expensive. Responses to the RFP came in all the way up to $55,000. Many companies declined to bid because of the complexity of the job. In the end, we used an off-the-shelf (OTS) product called MarketGrabber because they had most of the required features and others that were in the business plan, but not included in the original RFP. The total program and customization costs before roll-out were less than $10,000, showing that it pays to do your research! Travel and Vacation Hiking, Biking and Paddling in the Seeley-Swan Valley This site was created by Jim and Sara Streeter who took my web classes in 2008. Rich Ranch This site was created by Sharon Teague of Seeley Lake, Montana. She took my two-week Web Design and Development course at Dickinson Lifelong Learning Center and has been practicing to add new web skills ever since. Beach Transportation Beach Transportation has been owned and run by the Beach Family since 1941. Their site has a very interesting section with the story of their company. This site was built by Nora and is maintained by Tom Anderson. Adventure Life Adventure Life was the idea of Brian Morgan to provide adventure travel using local guides and facilities. His ideal is to leave as much revenue as possible in the hands of the local folk. I worked on the Adventure Life web site for a little over a year inproving the file management and functionality, and then recommended that a graphic artist could do wonders for the site. The current web site design was developed by Aaron Conway, who has created a greatly improved design. A good example of how it pays to hire a graphic artist! Food Montana Chef's Association Donna Campbell took several of my classes and amazed me by putting this site together for her chef husband! Sports and Recreation Big Sky Gypsy and Drum Horses This site was created by Sharon Teague of Seeley Lake, Montana. Sharon is available to build web sites in Seeley Lake. Smakwater and Sprezzatura Kennels John and Laura McCarthy took Web Marketing and Design and Web Development 1 to learn how to plan their web site. They then took that learning to communicate more effectively with their web developer. They said that the preparation saved them considerable cost on the site development. Located in the Heart of the Beautiful Bitterroot Valley, Smakwater and Sprezzatura is the trusted name in sporting dog care. Specializing in obedience for the hunting retriever, and proven by over 15 years of formal experience with over 500 awards and titles combined, John and Laura McCarthy offer personal, professional boarding, training, and conditioning for all medium to large breed dogs. Issues The Plant Detective Beth Judy has a very interesting radio show about how plants are used medicinally. Additionally, she has a web site that discusses how some of these plants are threatened. Computer Services Green Valley Designs Rebecca Williamson, formerly the Executive Director of the Missoula Urban Development Project, took my Web Development classes and has started her own web design service. Green Valley Designs is a website and small print publication design company that specializes in sustainability- and community-focused projects. GVD also provides photography and botanical illustration in graphite. Services Hanson and Hanson Window Cleaning Greg Hanson's Window Cleaning site is an example of what can be done with rapid development. Greg got the materials together, and we worked for an afternoon to get a basic page on the web. The most important information about his business is available to potential clients, and now Greg can focus on planning the other features of his site over time. Greg and his wife Cookie do sterling work for their exclusive clientele. Advanced Carpet Cleaning Systems Like the Window Cleaning web site. This site was roughed out to the "good enough" stage in one afternoon. Besides the front page, a basic Dreamweaver template and Cascading Style Sheet were developed. Watch for graphics and new pages to demonstrate Greg's services. Curbwise This site was built by Linda Ottway, who took four of my web development classes in the early 2000s. Linda has extensive graphic experience from her sign business in Las Vegas. Jonco Drywall John Anderson took my Web Development series in 2007 and built this site for his business! Note that John has added a slideshow to his site from our class project. Great job, John! Choices Counseling Penny Nord, Choices Counseling, is my good friend from years of volunteering with the Missoula Downtown Association. This site was built by my student Rebecca Williamson of Green Valleys Design (see link in Computer Services above.) Rebecca has a great eye for design. Shelby Humphreys: Christian Author, Artist, and Public Speaker As a faith-based public speaker in Missoula, MT, Shelby Humphreys writes, speaks, and paints all about Real Life 4D Real You. She is currently promoting her new book, "Church Picnic: How God Saved Me from My Religion" and loves to share the message of living a radically authentic Christian life.
